Rural Electrification: Better days ahead for Kwarans – Commissioner

The Kwara State Commissioner for Energy, Alhaji Aliyu Kora Sabi has assured Kwarans that the government will ensure the citizens experience a marked difference in the area of rural electrification to fast track social economic development of the state.
Sabi said this during an inspection tour of the electrification of the 33 KV line from Patigi to Kpada embarked upon by the state government.
The commissioner who expressed satisfaction with the progress of the work done so far said everything is being done to ensure that the project is completed within stipulated time.
He said, “I am happy about what I saw and this is the type of thing we are expecting. The community too is very ready to stand by what the Governor is doing and for also keeping his promise.
“The last time the Governor came, he promised that work will commence in their waterworks, road and electrification and all of them are in full action now. We also thank the community for their resolve to stand by the project against vandalisation and see it as their own.
“Our message is simple and that is for the community to support the government because it is not going to be business as usual. Our coming is to make sure the project was done to speciation and that is why we directed that the 200KVA transformer be replaced with that of 300 in line to specification of the project in Kpada. We will ensure due process is always followed in all our projects.
He said after the budget has been passed, all the rural communities in the sixteen local government areas in the state will be connected to the national grid adding that the current administration is reader to partner with relevant authorities to improve power supply in the state.
“We want to partner with the IBDC, REA and all other donor agencies to ensure we have alternative sources of energy to improve power supply like solar and others to energize these communities. I can assure you that better days are ahead for Kwarans under Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq administration in the areas of rural electrification.
In his remark during the tour, the handler of the project, Engr Moshood Issa said the project was started on Sunday with two communities already energized. Issa who commended the government for prompt and timely release of fund said the Governor has met all its financial obligations and terms of the contract and promised to deliver the project on time and according to specification. He however advised the community to safeguard the installations.
Also in the commissioner’s entourage where the Permanent Secretary in the ministry, Pastor Ogunwale Sunday, other directors and officials. Other places visited included Share, Fey, Rokaan 1, Koro where the commissioner paid courtesy calls on the traditional rulers and community leaders including the Etsu Patigi, Alhaji Umar Ibrahim Bologi received by the secretary of the Patigi Emirate Council , Alhaji idris Abubakar.
