JAFAK Cup 2020: Hellenic, Air Force, Golden Stars make perfect start
Yolvicmike Hellenic, Air Force, Golden Stars and United Academy all made perfect start in the second edition of JAFAK Cup.
The second season of the JAFAK Cup, a tournament held in honour of former Kwara United Chairman, Sir (Prince) Joseph Aranloye Fakayode commenced on Monday at the Kwara Football Academy (KFA) pitch.
On Wednesday, Hellenic FC defeated their Group E opponent, Y.K Super, 3-1 in an enthralling encounter with lnnocent Obaro scoring twice in the 4th and 60th minute and Lolu Ogunbiyi contributing another goal in the 58th minute.
Adisa Abdulrahman scored what could be described as the consolation goal in the 9th minute of the encounter.
In the other Group E match, Air Strike earned a slim 2-1 win over Lion Star FC who put up a good showing despite their youthfulness.
The victors got their goals through Uthman Uthman (40th min) and Salihu Muritala (67th min) while Elubo Yusuf pulled one back in the 75th min.
In Group D, LA Planet were 2-1 winners against ITPA with goals from Praise Ebifi and Charles Nath in the 16th and 39 th minute respectively while ITPA reduced the deficit in the 68th min through Shuaib Akeem.
In another Group D match, Emmyfor drew 2-2 with Oke-Ogun with Rilwan Rasheed scoring twice for the former while Lawal Teslim and Alabi Raphael also hit target for the later.
On Tuesday, All Stars and Big Star FC shared the spoils by playing out a 1-1 draw just as Babalola and Lasora also drew 1-1 in the other Group B match.
The Group C match between Barrier SCA and Elite ended in a goalless draw. ADFA ended on the losing side in the other match of the group as Harmony FC scored twice against ADFA’s lone strike.
On Monday, Golden Stars scored two un-replied goals to defeat Alagbado FC in the opening match while United Academy were 2-1 better than Okaa Sports.
On Thursday, Shinning Stars will square up 9am against Stallion FC while Future Stars will take on Oke-Ose FC simultaneously in the other Group F match.
In Group G, Okaa Sports FC will face Mai Jama’a just as Starburst will try Waziri FC for size at 11pm.
The opening match was witnessed by a sizable crowd that included the Kwara Football Academy Administrator, Mr Kehinde Jimoh, former Super Eagles Assistant Coach, Amusa Adisa, KFA Assistant Director, Coach Olatunji Shuaib and a football agent and CEO of Kinkon Global Sports, Olalekan Olanrewaju.
