The Ilorin Branch of the Nigeria Bar Association (NBA) will on Wednesday hold a special session in honour of its late vice chairman, Mrs Omolara Adetutu Aluko.
The chairman of the branch, Mohammed Akande, confirmed this during a telephone chat last night on preparations for the burial of the deceased.
According to him, the ceremony will take place by 11am at the NBA House, Ilorin.
Meanwhile burial arrangements for late Aluko will commence on Wednesday with a commendation service at her residence, 5G, Olaniran Aluko Street, Opp. Sanrab filling Station, Tanke road, Ilorin at 5pm while Christian Wake will be held for her at Government Secondary School, Tanke on Thursday.
Lying in State will take place at her residence on Friday at 7:30am and “Home Going Service” will be held for her later at RCCG regional headquarters, Sabo-Oke, Ilorin at 10am, the programme of event sited last night noted.
Born 5th August, 1963, Aluko died on Wednesday, February 5, 2020 after she slumped while in the bathroom and died at her residence.
The news of her death came as a rude shock to many of her colleagues, family members and friends.
She was a two term vice chairman of the Ilorin NBA.
The Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Barrister Salman Ayinla Jawondo, in a telephone chat described Aluko’s demise as unfortunate saying she was a perfect gentle friend.
“Though I got the news lately but, it is quite unfortunate, she was a friend, gentle, easy going person. I just pray God will uphold the family she left behind”.
Also, the Chairman of the Bar, Barrister Muhammed Ayoola Akande, who, because of the incident, cancelled the commissioning of the NBA gymnastic centre, mourned his lieutenant in a face book post.
Akande, in what he tagged ‘gone so soon’ on his facebook page, said, “within the few years of our closeness, I’ve found in you, a sister, loyalist, adviser and admirer, the list is endless, and you suddenly left with all these qualities. That you will not come again will forever hurts.
He later told National Pilot on telephone “For many beautiful things she had wished to achieve in life even in the legal profession, death has cheated her of them all. She is just too good to me, to the Bar. It’s so painful, how can I believe she’s gone just like that.
Several other lawyers in Ilorin including Bar, Taye Oniyede and Bar Adeyemo Debo among others also wrote on their timelines following the incident.
