A former Registrar, University of Ilorin, Mr. Emmanuel Dada Obafemi has blamed stakeholders particularly the government and the parents for the fall in the standard of Education in the Country.
Mr Obafemi who stated this while featuring on a Radio Kwara Personality interview programme, “Playing Host” said most parents encourage their children to circumvent the system with their behaviour and zeal to get admission at all costs.
The immediate past registrar advocated that admission seekers should not be below the age of eighteen as was being done in the past to revive the Education sector.
He advised all stakeholders to be pragmatic and follow the rules to urgently revive the system.
Speaking on the Funding of tertiary education, Mr. Obafemi appealed to TETFUND to make fund assessment for developmental purpose in schools easy for Vice Chancellors and implored them to use the money judiciously for what it is meant for.
The former Registrar also called for adequate funding of Education to ensure rapid development of the Nation.
Speaking on the level of corruption in the country, he commended the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission for the money it recovered from looters in Kwara State and called for capital punishment for looters in the country.
Mr Obafemi applauded Governor AbdulRazaq for his developmental programmes.
On sport, the former Registrar, who is also a FIFA Assessor and instructor called on stakeholders in sporting activities to send Nigerian Coaches for more training to develop sports, to develop the industry.
He also appealed to LMC to insist that all matches are played on natural grasses, maintain standard and work towards ensuring proper sponsorship of the League.
Mr Obafemi who kicked against cheating common in the aged grade football, advocated for the discovery of talents from the Secondary Schools and grassroots sports.
