
The Kwara State government has restated its commitment to the independence of traditional institutions in the state.
It said it will not for any reason intervene in the appointment of traditional rulers at all level across the state.
The Special Adviser on Political Matters to Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, Alh Saadu Salahu gave the assurance when he paid homage to the newly appointed Alangua Ibagun, Mallam Saka Alangua at his Kankatu, Okelele residence, Ilorin on Sunday.
Salahu was accompanied by a delegation of the Ibagun Progressive Union (IPU)- led by the chairman, Alh Kuranga Omomeji Morogun.
The political adviser also restated the commitment of Governor AbdulRazaq’s administration to the welfare of the traditional rulers in the state.
While congratulating the new Alangua on his appointment, Salahu advised him to carry every members of the ruling house, especially his co- contestants along in running the affairs of the community.
He also advised him to shun any form of distractions that could impede the development of Ibagun/ Okelele community.
“We want you to pursue peace and development with vigour. You must see every indigene of this community as your sons and daughters and carry every one along in running the affairs of the community. You must also relate well with other members of your clan who also indicated interest in the stool of your forefathers because all of you were qualified for the office, but the Almighty God through the Emir of Ilorin appointed you,” Salahu further admonished the new Alangua.
Imam AbdulBaki Ode- Gbangba and Imam Abdullahi Olooto, in brief prayers, beseeched Allah to grant the new Alangua long life and a successful reign.
