Prof Awodun launches publication on Kwara Economy

Immediate past chairman of Kwara State Internal Revenue Service (KWIRS), Prof Murtala Awodun has launched a publication that focuses majorly on the economy of Kwara State.
The weekly newsletter titled EcoKwanomy is published by Fiftyfifty Institute Limited and comes with the motto “Making Kwara Great”.
The highly intellectual publication, the first of its kind in Kwara, comprised of a team of seasoned and respected economists from the academic and fiscal sectors within and outside the state who will provide cutting-edge insight and analysis on Kwara economy.
Aside the former KWIRS boss who is Editor-in-Chief/Publisher, the advisory board is chaired by Dean, KWASU Business School, Prof Kenneth Adeyemi while Economist and Statistical Analyst, Abimbola Awodun serves as Managing Editor/Secretary to the board.,
Others top economists and intellectuals who are members of the board include the Director CHU Centre for Enterprise and Human Capital Development, Prof Hakeem Ajonbadi, an Associate Professor of Birmingham City University, United Kingdom, Dr Mohammed Yaru, Senior Lecturer and Ag Head of Departments of Economics, University of Ilorin, Dr Habibah Kamaluddeen-Aiyelabegan and Human Resource and Management expert (Economics), Mohammed Audu.
According to Awodun, paying particular attention to the Economy of Kwara within the Nigerian nation/state is a responsibility that the weekly publication has carved out for itself with the set target to bring the inherent opportunities in the State economy to the fore, the required attention for investment, trade and people flows that can transform those opportunities into businesses that will make the state great” would be accomplished.
“We are therefore committed to researching the various aspects of what makes up the economy of the State, and in so doing, research, inform and educate the populace of Kwara and other interested parties on how to use the opportunities in the State to make the state great”, he noted.
Areas of Kwara economy that will be featured on a weekly basis according to the former KWIRS boss are Kwara Businesses and Markets, Finances and Investments, Science and Technology, Agriculture and Agro-allied Businesses, People and Culture, Education and Religion, Health and Wealth, Facilities and Infrastructure, Policies and Programmes, Cities, Towns and Villages and Resources and Development among others.
