Former UNILORIN VC, Ambali, tipped for TETFUND top job

Former Vice Chancellor of the University of Ilorin, Professor Abdulganiyu Ambali has been tipped to succeed Professor Suleiman Bogoro as Executive Secretary, Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) .
According to findings by National Pilot last night, the former Vice Chancellor has been cleared for the top post after he was said to have gone through security checks.
His appointment is expected to be announced any time soon, it was further gathered.
Top sources who confided in this medium over the issue because they were not allowed to speak officially on the matter yet, said his appointment was facilitated by Professor Ishaq Oloyede, Registrar, Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, JAMB.
Ambali’s eventual emergence as TETFund boss will be the first time the position will be coming to the North Central region since inception in 2011 if it scales through.
He is a Member of College of Veterinary Surgeons of Nigeria, (MCVSN) and Fellow of College of Veterinary Surgeons of Nigeria (FCVSN) who had once served as chairman of the Association of West African Universities (AWAU).
The Professor of Avian and Aquatic Animal Medicine served as Collation Officer for the Presidential election and Returning Officer for Governorship election in Niger state in 2015.
For his part, Professor Suleiman Bogoro returned as head of the agency in January 2019 following the sack of Dr Bichi Baffa by President Muhammadu Buhari.
He was first appointed as TETfund Executive Secretary by President Goodluck Jonathan in 2014 but was sacked by Buhari over alleged misappropriation of N200billion under his watch.
He was however cleared of corruption allegations and asked to return to TETfund as Executive Secretary.
