A former member of Lagos State House of Assembly, representing Ifako – Ijaye constituency, Hon. Fateema Mohammed Ogunkola has urged parents not to leave their wards in the hands of untrusted person(s).
She stated this via an online video reacting to the recent sexual assault on a minor by a popular Hollywood actor Olanrewaju Omiyinka also known as Baba Ijesha.
According to her, ‘ the conduct is saddened and depicts the extent of rottenness in our modern society. ‘
“Am on my way for an event when I heard the news, I had to stop and ponder on the issue. It is quite unfortunate.
“This is a man who is supposedly meant to entertain the society by his comic display, but turned out to be the opposite,” she said.
The lawmaker added that how could an elderly person descend so low to that extent of defiling a fourteen-year-old girl?
“I kept wondering how do we proceed from here. Parents should begin not to leave their child or ward to an unknown person (s).
“Molesters are every where. Never leave your child with anybody be it an uncle or relations. If you are busy, ensure that you entrust your wards to a responsible person.
“I hope the molesters get appropriate punishment. I think they deserve castration if need be,” the honorable concluded.
Popular Nollywood actor, Olanrewaju Omiyinka, aka Baba Ijesha, was arrested by men of the Lagos State Police Command for allegedly defiling a minor.
Reports gathered that a closed-circuit television installed in the victim’s home captured Omiyinka allegedly molesting the victim while her mother was not at home.
It was learnt that the victim’s mother, who had been suspecting that her daughter was being sexually abused, installed the CCTV to uncover the perpetrator.
It was reported that the victim’s mother monitored the situation in her home on her phone and to her dismay, she saw Omiyinka allegedly conducting himself in a suspicious manner around her daughter.
The thespian allegedly took the victim away from the sitting room into the kitchen, where there was no CCTV camera installed, and the mother, who rushed back home upon the discovery, allegedly caught Omiyinka defiling her daughter in the kitchen.
The victim’s mother was said to have been inconsolable after her discovery.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi, said in a statement on Thursday that Omiyinka was arrested after a case of defilement was reported against him, adding that preliminary investigation revealed that he had been sexually assaulting the 14-year-old victim since she was seven.
