Lady in court over facebook post

Contrary to Sections 397 and 392 of Penal Code Laws, one Aremu Okikiola, female living in No 7, Tanke Area, Ilorin was charged to an Ilorin Magistrate Court.
According to the Police First Information Report (FIR),a petition letter was written by one Olawale Afolake Nuirat, female and others.
The FIR stated that on 30/09/21 at about 10:15pm, Nuirat was working on a social media app, Facebook, with her phone and saw a post her photograph alongside her siblings, captioned “if you come across these people, please call the number 08070081559. That they kidnapped a pregnant young lady and they all absconded or better still call the nearest police station. The post was tagged by many people posted by Okikiola,
And that the defendant had been accused of threatened the defendant through facebook message and WhatsApp voice recordings over issue which ought not to degenerate to that level.
Criminal intimidation and defamation, investigation conducted by the police reveals that through facebook message posted by Okikiola, Aremu’s image and reputation can be destroyed contrary to Section 397 and 392 of Penal Code Laws.
The defending counsels led by Barrister M.O Balogun and Barrister H.O Kuranga (Mrs) though argued that according to Section 168 of ACJN provisions, the offence is bailable.
And that the court has the power to exercise discretion to the favour defendant in liberal terms which would not be abused by the defendant.
And that both parties had made moves to settle out of court amicably.
Though with no objection to the bail application, the Prosecuting counsel, Abdulwasiu Mukadam said though Police investigations are still on going asked for a date in order for the investigation to be concluded.
Bail of the defendant with or without the discretion of the judge remain undiluted, the judge however admitted the defendant to bail pending the conclusion of police investigations.
The presiding judge, Magistrate M.K. Aluko however admitted the defendant to bail with sum of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum and must be residence within the court jurisdiction.
He then adjourned the case till October 26th, 2021 for further mentioning.
