Tension in Sokoto as protesters demand release of suspected killers of Deborah Samuel

It would be recalled that Deborah Samuel, a 200-level student of Shehu Shagari College of Education, Sokoto, was killed on Thursday over alleged blasphemy.
The protesters, who stormed the streets in large numbers on Saturday, wielded placards with inscriptions such as, โ€œRelease our Muslim brothersโ€, and โ€œMuslims Are Not Terroristsโ€, among others.
It was gathered that armed policemen fired teargas canisters to disperse the angry crowd, during which two persons were reportedly injured.
A source who spoke to our correspondent said the protesters became violent and started hurling objects at the police.
