Major fire disaster averted in Ilorin

The Kwara State Fire Service on Thursday saved a 30ton cooking gas confined inside its tank from explosion in Ilorin the state capital.
The incident occurred in a fire outbreak at Grace Gas Plant Station situated at Ita-Elepa Junction, Off Asa-Dam Road in Ilorin West Local Government Area of Kwara State.
An eyewitness confirmed that the fire erupted from the damaged gas delivery truck parked inside the gas station.
The witness also added that two men sustained serious injury from the ravaging inferno.
Even though the firefighters were able to save the gas plant from explosion, a nearby three bedroom flat to the gas plant was affected by the inferno.
The Director, Kwara State Fire Service, Prince Falade John Olumuyiwa, urged every gas station to be more safety conscious in their day to day activities at their various stations, a statement by the spokesman of the state fire service, Hassan Adekunle stated.
