Revealed: Real Reason Tunji Moronfoye Resigned As Kwara PDP Publicity Secretary
By Ahmed Ajikobi
Contrary to the falsehood being peddled in a section of the online media suggesting that Prince Tunji Morounfoye quit his job as state publicity secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) because of the alleged campaign funds issues rocking the party, National Pilot can authoritatively reveal that the former spokesman left to assume a higher responsibility being prepared for him by the party leadership.
” Those reports were mischievous and totally false. They were handwork of PDP detractors. Tunji is still very much with the party. He was given a bigger responsibility outside the party by the leadership. Tunji is the last person to dump the party for another. He’s a totally committed member”, a source in PDP disclosed.
Morounfoye in his resignation letter had indeed stated unequivocally that his decision was on personal grounds, devoid of animosity against the Party and her leadership.
” my decision to resign from my position is premised on personal reasons and I hold no animosity against the PDP and her leadership”, he had written.
Party chairman, Alhaji Tunde Mohammed corroborated Morounfoye’s position in a terse statement he issued to dispel negative rumours that trail the resignation.
According to him, the outgoing spokesman still remains a member of the party.
” Distinguished PDP stalwarts, there is no problem. Prince Moronfoye is preparing for another special assignment.
Thanks for your concern & unalloyed loyalty”, he wrote.
Morounfoye shed more light on his resignation in a chat with National Pilot.
According to him, he had no reason to leave the party in the circumstances being peddled by mischief makers because nothing like that existed within the party.
” I’m a totally committed member of the party. I’m totally committed to my boss and leader, Dr Bukola Saraki. I left because he has another responsibility for me to pursue. Its funny, the rumours claimed I left because of certain disagreement. There was no disagreement between me and my boss or the party leadership. Another amusing thing was that I may be moving to APC. This is laughable. Apc can never be an option for me. I remain a staunch member of the PDP”, he vowed.
