Health challenges: Concerns As Gov Abdulrasaq allegedly delays Grand Khadi’s request for Financial support….6 months running* Justice Commissioner, Cps Keep mum.
The Grand Khadi of the Kwara State Sharia Court of Appeal, Justice Abdulateef Kamaldeen, is reported to be currently battling severe health challenges that require urgent medical attention.
National Pilot gathered that given the nature of the ailment which sources described as life-threatening , the Grand Khadi had desperately reached out to the Governor through official letter, intimating him of the nature of the ailment, the need for urgent medical attention and the cost implications.
The total cost of the treatment, the Grand Khadi requested to save his life, according to sources, is N17m.
The letter for the financial assistance which was Grand Khadi’s right and entitlement as civil servant, sources at Governor’s office revealed, was submitted in April to the Governor, but till date has remained unapproved by Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq.
Justice Kamaldeen, the second highest ranking in the state judiciary ladder, has been awaiting the government’s intervention as his health continues to deteriorate.for the past six months now.
A source within the Kwara State government circle, who spoke under the condition of anonymity for fear of reprisals, speculated that the governor’s inaction might be politically motivated. According to the source, Justice Kamaldeen is known to maintain a close relationship with former Senate President Dr Bukola Saraki, a bond that has spanned over two decades. The source believe that this affiliation might be influencing the governor’s delayed response.
However, a family source close to the Grand Kadi disagreed with the political interpretation, dismissing the notion that his relationship with Saraki was the cause of the delay. The source, also speaking anonymously, stated, “The governor may be taking his time to approve the request due to other pressing matters requiring the governor’s attention. He might have a lot on his mind”
Amidst these speculations, an Islamic cleric who is conversant with the development appealed to Governor AbdulRazaq, urging him to take swift action. “The governor is in the best position to help the Grand Kadi. We beseech him to please attend to the request of our Grand Kadi,” the cleric said, adding his voice to the call for assistance.
However, when National Pilot contacted the office of the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mallam Rafiu Ajakaye on Thursday around 11: 22am to seek more information about the situation of the Grand Kadi’s request, we were directed to the contact the Attorney-General abd Commissioner for Justice, Barrister Senior Ibrahim Sulyman.
At 2:11pm on Thursday, National pilot put a call through to the Attorney-General. However the call was not answered. Also at 2:18pm a direct text which read: ” As-salamu alaykum sir, I hope this message finds you well. I write on behalf of National pilot Newspaper, and we are currently working on a story concerning the health condition of the Kwara State Grand-kadi, Justice Abdulateef Kamaldeen.

Likewise, the message which was forwarded to his WhatsApp at 2:22pm on Thursday was unread by the Commissioner till the time of filling this report.
