In continuation of his ground-breaking one hundred and forty million naira scholarship initiative announced last year, the President of the 8th Nigeria Senate, Dr. Bukola Saraki has paid the sum of Thirty-five million, three hundred thousand naira to cover the second year of tuition for 100 students at Muhammad Kamalud-Deen University, Ilorin.
The full scholarship, which spans four years, was unveiled during the university’s official commissioning in November 2023, where Saraki also donated ₦26 million to support infrastructural development at the institution.
Muhammad Kamalud-Deen University was founded by the first Grand Mufti of Ilorin and founder of the Ansarul Islam Society of Nigeria, the late Sheikh Muhammad Kamalud-Deen Al-Adaby.
Speaking on the gesture in a statement released by his Press Officer on Local Matters, Abdulganiyu Abdulqadir when the scholarship initiative was announced, Saraki reaffirmed his dedication to advancing educational opportunities for young people, particularly in Ilorin Emirate.
“As a bona fide son of Ilorin, Baba Adini of Ansarul Islam Society of Nigeria, and the Waziri Ngeri of the Ilorin Emirate, this project is personal to me.
“This commissioning is a great project for every son and daughter of the Emirate, not only for the legacy of Sheikh Kamalud-Deen but for what we can do as Ilorin Emirate community.
“It is a project for society, and that’s why it’s our project. That is why I have been playing my role since it started in 2005 until today,” Saraki said.
Reacting to the receipt of the payment, the Management of Muhammad Kamalud-Deen University expressed profound gratitude to Saraki for fulfilling his second year pledge to the students
“The Management of MKU, on behalf of the BoT, Council, Staff, and Students, extends heartfelt gratitude to HE the former President of the Senate Federal Republic of Nigeria, Baba Adinni of AISN for fulfilling his 2nd-year pledge to our students. We also sincerely appreciate Hon. Musa Idowu Audu for his swift facilitation of the payment and commend the Scholarship Disbursement Committee for their invaluable efforts and support. May Allah reward all your contributions abundantly and everyone of us.
The University would do the needful ASAP to forward her official appreciation as usual. Thank you Sirs. WaliLlahil Hamd”, the management stated.
Saraki’s latest payment reaffirms his commitment to ensuring that the 100 beneficiaries, selected as part of his vision for empowering the next generation through education, complete their studies without financial hindrance.
With Muhammed Kamalud-Deen University positioning itself as a hub of academic excellence, Saraki’s contributions reflect his dedication to nurturing future leaders and uplifting the Ilorin Emirate and beyond.
