The organiser of the long awaited Senate President Unity Cup soccer championship has retagged the competition’s name as National Unity Cup.
Pilot Sports also garnered the tournament will be unveiled officially on November 11, 2017 while the competition will start from December 11th – 23rd, 2017.
The Chairman and the Secretary of the Main Organising (MOC), Alhaji Abdulrahuf Abdulsalam and Rasheed Saraki informed Pilot Sports of this development, through a test message on Tuesday.
The secretary said the changing of the name is paramount due to the aims and objective of the tournament, which was to explore the sporting template to promote the peace, unity, love and harmony of Nigeria.
He noted that the U-20 tournament will be used as a tool to empower and engage the youths of the country in fruitful extra curriculum activities, such as football.
Saraki hopes that the government, private sector and individuals would see the competition as an avenue to promote corporate social responsibility.
