Octogenerian, 2 others arrested for exhuming corpses in Kwara

An octogenarian, Pa Samuel Idowu Iroko has been arrested by men of the Kwara State police command for allegedly exhuming corpses from cemeteries in Oke-Onigbin, Isin Local Government Area of the state, penultimate Sunday.
The suspect was arrested by security operatives alongside his accomplices, Abraham Steven from Kogi State and Ahmed Lateef, following tip off.
Pilot Crime gathered that the principal suspect, an alleged a member of the Ogboni confraternity also deals in human parts.
It was further gathered that the case was reported by a traditional chief in the town, Olabanji Ajayi.
According to a police source, one of the suspects informed the chief that the octogenarian invited him and made him swear to oath of secrecy over the illicit business they wanted to contract.
“Iroko contracted Lateef to help him get bones from a cemetery and warned him that evil would befall him if he told anyone about it.
“Ahmed refused to do the old man’s bidding and went to the chiefs to explain the situation. The matter was reported to community elders who advised the chiefs to inform the police at Oke-Ero.
“Signal was sent to police command and operatives of the state CID homicide section placed surveillance in the area.”
It was learnt that following the arrest of Iroko, the security operatives searched his apartment and discovered bones suspected to be human’s.
He was said to have confessed to the crime during interrogation and implicated the two other suspects.
“He confessed to have exhumed human parts from three cemeteries in the area, which he used for rituals.
“The suspect took the police to the cemeteries where they have operated in the area. The suspects will be charged to court on Monday (today), as investigation into the matter has been concluded” The source divulged.
When contacted, the state Police Spokesperson, DSP Ajayi Okasanmi said he was yet to be informed about the case.
