COVID-19: Rafiu Ibrahim donates food, cash to residents

Senator Rafiu Ibrahim has donated food items and cash gifts to the less privileged in his hometown of Ojoku in Oyun local government area of Kwara State, to assist them cushion the effects of the stay-at-home order by the State Government as part of measures to curb the spread of Coronavirus.

Rafiu noted that the distribution will commence in his community before it will be extended to other places in Kwara South, the district he represented at the 8th Senate.

Mr Olasunkanmi Akeem who is the Personal Assistant to the senator monitored the delivery of the food items to the Olojoku of Ojoku, Oba Razaq Adegboyega Afolabi, who will oversee the distribution of the items to most vulnerable residents in the town.

Explaining why the materials were delivered to the traditional ruler, the media aide of the Senator, Abdulquadri Abdulganiyu, said the former lawmaker believed that as the leader of the town, the monarch knows and will be able to identify indigents deserving of the materials and money.

While receiving the items and cash donation, the Olojoku pledged to ensure that the materials get to those who are in need of them. He also appreciated Senator Rafiu for the kind gesture, describing him as a true son of the soil who has the love of his people at heart.

Meanwhile, Senator Rafiu has urged people of Ojoku and Kwara at large to comply with all the precautions and preventive measures put in place by the FG, State government and World Health Organisation to curtail the spread of the coronavirus.

He asked the people to obey the lockdown order by staying at home to stay safe an remain alive. He also urged them to maintain high level of hygiene, wash their hands regularly with soap and water and always apply sanitizers.
