Defection:  ‘OTJ is paperweight, we’re not losing sleep’

Former chairman of the Kwara State Councilors Forum and Liaising Officer to Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed in Ekiti Local government, Opeyemi Adeojo has dismissed the defection of former Commissioner of Environment, Otunba Taiwo Joseph (OTJ) to the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC) as a non-issue.
OTJ who was a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) from Ekiti Local Government in a telephone chat with our reporter on the issue Saturday confirmed the development but provided no reason for his action.
According to Adeojo, the party is not losing sleep over the defection even as he maintained that the former commission remains a paperweight politician in Ekiti and Kwara who cannot influence any victory for the PDP in the coming election.
He said the incident exposed those who join the Saraki political dynasty because of position and warned the party to be weary of their antics going forward.
“We are not losing sleep on OTJ’s defection because he is a paperweight. When he was with us, his influence was nothing. We were in his town in Eruku for campaign and the turnout was extraordinary without him. With Mrs Cecilia Ore and Director-General of the PDP campaign in Ekiti local government including the traditional institution, we have no problem at all.
“With this, it exposes those who are with Saraki because of position. Once that don’t get what they want, they leave. I want the dynasty to learn from this and we are privy to the relationship between him and former Governor of Osun State, Rauf Aregbesola that they live in the same area in Alimosho in Lagos.
His defection did not come as a surprise, we have started noticing his non commitment after the by election. Saraki and PDP should not lose sleep over him, let him go and join APC, we will deliver Ekiti for the PDP”, he added.
