I almost ‘dump’ Adekunle Gold in album to avoid questions – Simi

 

Nigerian alternative singer, Simisola Bolatito Ogunleye popularly known as Simi, who just released her second career album which is self-titled “Simi”, has revealed she almost gave up writing her smash hit “Joromi”.

In an interview, the “Jamb Question” crooner revealed that “Joromi”, “was actually one of the last songs recorded in the album.

“When the beat was produced I wrote about four songs but I was not feeling the vibe, in fact, I felt like dumping the beats, then, I think I was listening to Sir Victor Uwaifo’s “Joromi” and I really liked the song, and I started playing around with the vibe then I eventually arrived at my own “Joromi”.

The Covenant University graduate of Mass Communication also explained why she featured only Adekunle Gold on her album, “It was not planned, I mean there was no big plan like let’s feature Adekunle on this album; the only thing is that it just happened, you are like the six hundredth person asking me this question. At a point, I felt like featuring someone else to avoid this question but later I felt why worry about it, if I am asked I will answer.

She came into spotlight after she released singles like: Tiff, Love Dont Care and Jamb question. She also did a collabo with Falz on his hit song ”Soldier” which has continued to get massive airplay and accolades.
