After completion of one year compulsory service, no fewer than two thousand and forty five, 2016 Batch B Stream 1 corps members will be passing out in Kwara State, today.
Regrettably, three members of the group died during the period of service just as 25 others have been given extension and other punishments for violating rules and regulations of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), according to a statement on Tuesday by the Public Relations Officer in Kwara State, Oladipo Morakinyo.
Morakinyo stated that aside those that contravened the NYSC laws, a number of corps members posted to the state absconded.
“They were sanctioned for various offences committed during the service year; some out rightly absconded from the service, while others contravened various sections of the NYSC bye laws.
“A total of 2, 045 corps members will have their Passing out Parade (POP) on Thursday November 2 following the completion of their mandatory one year national service in the state,” the PRO said.
Morakinyo however emphasised that the POP ceremony will be low-key, adding that adequate preparation have been made to issue NYSC certificate to the deserving corps members at selected locations across the state.
He also said three corps members that distinguished themselves during the service year have been nominated for the NYSC State Honours Award, while another eight will receive state Coordinator’s commendation certificate.
