Fulfill your promises to electorate, cleric warns politicians

The Imam of Sultanate mosque, Adewole, in Ilorin West Local Government of Kwara State, Ustaz Sultan Kamaldeen has charged government officials and political office holders to govern the people with the fear of Allah.
The Imam, who said this during his sermon at the Juma’at service, said Allah will ask them to give account how they rule over the people they promised to serve while in office.
Kamaldeen tasked those concerned to fulfill all the promises they made to the people during the electioneering campaign rather than neglect the people after being elected.
He also warned against political violence in whatever guise, adding that destruction of property and senseless killings over political disagreement is not in the best interest of the government and the governed.
Quoting copiously from the Glorious Qur’an and traditions of the Prophet Muhammad (SAW), Kamaldeen noted that anyone who kills his or her fellow human being will face the wrath of Almighty Allah on the Day of Judgment.
He further urged the youth to see their political opponents first as fellow Muslims and human beings rather than enemies and desist from divisive politics that could distabilise the polity.
Kamaldeen urged Muslims to be prayerful and not do anything against Allah’s injunctions in their quest to seeking positions of authority.
“Some people in the urge to amass wealth and worldly possessions don’t bother about crossing the boundaries of Allah with the attendant consequences.
‘As Muslims, we should always observe our Solat and always seek for forgiveness from Allah. We must desist from engaging in sins not to be farther from the Rahmah and security from our creator’, he submitted.
