A High Court sitting in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital, has adjourned the suit challenging the competence of the Kwara State Independent Electoral Commission (KWSIEC)’s Chairman, Alhaji Uthman Ajidagba to conduct the forthcoming local government election in the state.

The opposition parties in the state led by the counsel to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Barr. Muritala Sambo have approached the court to determine whether Ajidagba can still conduct the poll after his alleged participation in a radio programme, ‘APC Gberede’, sponsored by the ruling All Progressives government.

In a suit no. (KWS/350/2017) filed before the court last Wednesday, the parties were alleging that the involvement of the commission’s boss in the APC programme has shown that he’s biased.

They posited that that the commission was supposed to be independent based on its statutory status.

Meanwhile, in the ruling of Justice Halimat A Saleeman, he directed that the counsels should ensure they file all their necessary responses by Monday.

He further adjourned the suit to Monday, 13th November, 2017 for hearing.
