The Kwara State Government has made available a transformer to the residents of mandate estate Ilorin three months after protracted darkness without electricity.
Speaking on this development, the Mandate Residents Association in a statement jointly signed by its chairman, Barrister Malik Abdulmajeed and Secretary; Mrs. Adeshola El-alawa said the prompt response by the government helped to restore power and saved the entire estate from being plunged into darkness is commendable.
โWe thank the state government for responding positively to our request by taking the commendable steps that prevented the entire estate from being plunged into darkness.’
“Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq has shown that he is a leader that cares about the people he is leading by taking necessary steps to ensure the power outage at our estate comes to an end.
“We were left without power for almost three months but despite the various demands, issues and requests competing for the governorโs attention, he made ours a priority and ensured a transformer was made available to us,” the statements reads.
Continuing, ‘we equally want to thank the Nigerian Rural Electrification Agency (NREA) for giving us one transformer which was facilitated by our brother; Engineer Kale Kawu’.
The association further thanked the Commissioner for Energy, Alhaji Aliyu Kora Sabi for his role to ensure the estate got the transformer.
“These supports have greatly helped and made it possible for us to enjoy stable power supply in the estate”, the association submitted.
NERA leaders also used the opportunity to appeal to the state government to take necessary steps and address the issue of bad condition of roads in the estate.
Vice Chairman of MERA, Alhaji Abdulganiyu Oloyin in an interview also thanked the state government and the Rural Electrification Agency for helping to restore power to the estate.
“We thank the government for doing the needful to put an end to power outage in the estate and we also appreciate residents of our estate for giving us necessary supports and encouragements,” Oloyin said.
