Milo Nestle Cup: Unilorin, St Charles emerge champions
The final matches in the boys and girls categories of the 2019 Milo secondary school championship were decided at the Indoor Sports Hall of the Kwara State stadium, Ilorin on Saturday 30th, March 2019.
In the female category which was the curtain raiser, last year’s finalist, St. Charles College out scored their university of Ilorin counterpart 28-15 to win the female trophy.
However, the boys final, turned out to be a keenly contested encounter. The battle for the coveted trophy was thrilling and sensational. Defending champions, University of Ilorin secondary school, got the better of St. Anthony Secondary School by 27-24 points.
Rachael Owolabi of St. Charles college and Samuel Ariyo of St. Anthony secondary school won the Most Valuable Player award in the female and male category respectively and were rewarded with cash prizes by the chief executive officer of droplets basketball, Tunji Ayeni.
Similarly, the Kwara state basketball association also gave out valuable gifts to the finalist and outstanding players.
Chairman of the association, Dr. J. Adeyemo while presenting the prizes along with his vice, Alh. Lafenwa, thanked all the participating schools. He also charge them to keep encouraging and supporting their students to participate in sporting activities.
He further disclosed that the association will not relent in its effort to ensure they keep supporting basketball development at the grassroots level.
