Saraki compensates victims of electoral violence

The Senate President, Dr Bukola Saraki on Monday compensated victims of electoral violence during the November 18, 2017 local government elections in Kwara State.
The victims, Mr Issa Adaara and Mr Jamiu Adaara whose cars were burnt by some hoodlums in Moro Local Government Area during the council polls were given two brand new vehicles by Saraki.
The Toyota Camry cars were handed over to the beneficiaries by the Director General of the ABS Mandate Constituency Office, Ilorin, Alhaji Musa Abdullahi at a brief ceremony which had stalwarts of the All Progressives Congress(APC) from Kwara North led by Alhaji AbdulRaheem Adisa in attendance.
Musa, who spoke on behalf of the Senate President said that the compensation was in fulfilment of Saraki’s commitment to reward loyalty.
He lamented that the two party chieftains were attacked by thugs suspected to be from opposition party during last year’s council poll in the state.
He said that Saraki directed his constituency office to procure the new cars as a measure to cushion the effect of the hardship facing the victims.
Abdullahi said, “During the last local government election (in Kwara State) in 2017, two members of our party; Alhaji Issa Adaara and Jamiu Adaara, were waylaid, ambushed and attacked by hoodlums suspected to be political thugs working for the opposition.
“In the process, the cars of the party stalwarts were completely damaged and burnt beyond repairs. As part of his usual kind gesture, the Senate President, Dr Bukola Saraki directed the Mandate Office to purchase two brand new cars for the affected party loyalists in order to cushion the effect of the hardship being faced by them.”
Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Mr Issa Adaara, appreciated Saraki for the gesture and assured him of the continued support of the people of Moro. He also prayed for the elevation of the Senate President to higher office in the country.
