Banu tasks canvassers on house-to-house campaign
Kwara State Commissioner for Finance, Nurudeen Demola Banu on Saturday in Ajase-Ipo, met with Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) canvassers across Irepodun Local Government Area, calling on them to intensify their house-to-house campaign and sell government programmes and policies to the electorate.
Banu who hosted the canvassers shortly after a stakeholders meeting with party leaders and elders of Irepodun in his residence, noted that the PDP is a people-centric party and will continue to prioritise the welfare of the citizens.
The commissioner while calling on the canvassers to approach the assignment with the needed zeal and determination promised that the party will continue to support and assist them to be successful in its commitment to provide good governance for the people of the state.
He said despite the antics of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state and national level, the PDP remain the party to beat and will form the next government in both the state and federal levels next year with the support of the people.
He therefore called on the canvassers to engage in aggressive door-to-door campaign to sell the party’s manifestoes and programmes to the people as the best option to the present hunger and insecurity that is widespread in the land under the ‘clueless’ APC government.
“I urged you to continuously work for the party and we on our part will continue to support you, personally and at the level of the party, to be successful in the task ahead. The PDP remains the party to beat and this is where God is. The leader of the party and Senate President, Dr Bukola Saraki and Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed want the best for the state which can only be achieved under PDP government next year”, he added.
In his remark, a leader of the party, Hon Benjamin Adewoye praised Banu for his support of the party always.
“It’s only God that can reward you for all your efforts to see the PDP in Ajase and Irepodun generally to continue to be relevant. Your efforts has transcends religion, tribe and ethnicity and Ajase has been unique through your efforts. We can only urge you to continue and with the support of the Senate President and Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed, we are very confident that all these will be a win-win situation for the party and the people of the state”.
Those that attended the stakeholder’s meeting include the Special Adviser to the Governor on Agriculture and Rural Water Support Service, Anu Ibiwoye, former member of the 7th Kwara State House of Assembly, Hon David Bamidele, former state APC party secretary, Chief Bode Adekanye, chairman Irepodun PDP Campaign Committee, Bar Atolagbe Ayansola, PDP chairman, Ajase ward 1, John Adebisi and Alhaji Idris Olurotimi Okewa among others.
