2023: Kwara PDP setup 7-man disciplinary committee for repositioning

With Mumini Abdulkareem
The Kwara State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in its
drive to reposition the party for future election has inaugurated a
7-man disciplinary committee.
The event which was held at the partyโs state secretariat, Ilorin,
weekend further mandated other levels of the party structure in the
local governments and the 193 wards across the state to immediately
replicate the constitution of disciplinary committees at their
respective domains and report to the state Secretariat on or before
ending of November.
The PDP is now the main opposition party in the state after it lost
election into all the elective seats in the 2019 general election held
in earlier in the year.
Speaking on the event, the Kwara State PDP chairman, Engr. Kola Shittu
said the meeting was part of the ongoing rebuilding processes in the
party aimed at instilling high level of discipline among party members
in all the sixteen local government area of the state.
He noted that such action become necessary in order to get the party
back on its feet so as to stand tall in subsequent political contests.
โThe disciplinary committee is to ensure that party members behave
appropriately because without discipline, there cannot be progress.
Itโs part of the plans to rejuvenate and reposition the party. Any
erring party member will be referred to the committee for appropriate
action.
โWe are going to have it also at the Local Government and ward levels,
not only the state. It will tell those who are already joining us that
we are a disciplined party and people have to behave in line with the
constitution of the party. So itโs not going to be all comers affairs.
Discipline is very important to have a virile party, that is the
essence
โIt was not set up for a particular person, they will be meeting from
time to time when there is the need to do so. Other committees will be
announced in due courseโ, he added.
The State disciplinary committee was chaired by Barrister M. Aborisade
and Barrister Moses Ibiyemi as secretary.
Other members of the committee include Alhaji Usman Saaba, Barrister
Ahmed Bayero, Hajia Joke Shuaib, Hon. Emmanuel Bello and Hon Saliu
Alamayo.
