Kwara Utd players, officials escape death in ghastly auto accident

A player, one official and camera man got injured as Players and officials of newly promoted Nigeria Professional Football League club Kwara United were involved in a road accident on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway on Wednesday.

No life was lost in the incident, which occurred around 8:30 am, in which the team bus was badly damaged.

The coaster bus conveyed no fewer than 32 passengers of bother players and officials of the harmony boys escaped death after the bus collide with 33,000 fuel tanker.

Among the injured are former player and now the Welfare Officer of the Club, Lukman Ijaya, Abdul Azeez, the photographer and yet to be identified player got bruised in their body.

Meanwhile, aftermath of the road accident, the Chairman of the newly promoted NPFL side, Prince Oladimeji Thompson has signified the team’s readiness for the NPFL kick off date on Sunday.

Players and officials of newly promoted Nigeria Professional Football League club Kwara United were involved in a road accident on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway on Wednesday morning.

Speaking in an exclusive interview with Pilot Sports after the incident, Oladimeji thanked God that no life was lost at the scene of the accident.

โ€œWe thank God no life was lost, as the bus collide with 33000 fuel tanker. We have determined to honour our match against Niger Tornadoes on Sunday. We will make sure we put the boys in good shape for the important match.

โ€œI want to urge all the football lovers in the state to come out and give the club the necessary supportโ€, the Chairman appealed.

The team was on their way to Ilorin from Lagos where they participated in the Bet9ja Nigeria National League Super Four competition which ended in on Tuesday.

John Obuh’s men are scheduled to host Niger Tornadoes of Minna at home on Sunday in their match day one fixture.

In a related development, he Football Club owners Association of Nigeria (Club Owners) has sympathized with the injured players and officials of newly promoted Kwara United FC who were involved in an auto crash on their way from the just concluded NNL super 4 in Lagos.

A statement by the Association jointly signed by the Coordinator Mr. Jude Anyadufu and the Executive Secretary Alloy Chukwuemeka thankful to God that no life was lost in the unfortunate crash and prayed for the quick recovery of those who were injured.

Also, the Kwara State Governor Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed has sympathized with the Management of Kwara United after the club’s accident story yesterday.

Ahmed showed his sympathies to the players injured when he tweeted on Wednesday evening.

Ahmed tweeted, โ€œMy sympathies to theย  @KwaraUnitedFCย  players injured in a road accident. I pray for their quick recoveryโ€.
