Parents have been admonished to ensure proper training of children, who are regarded as the future.
A cleric, Pastor Jimoh of World Assembly, Ita Elepa area, Ilorin, the Kwara State capital gave the charge during his sermon at the church , stressing that only parents who train the children in the right way have their future secured.
He quoted proverbs chapter 22 verse 6, saying ‘Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old, he will not depart from it.”
He traces the prevailing evil in the society to failed parenting, urging parents to lead examplary lives.
He said, “It is not the sole responsibility of the father or mother to discipline, they must both join hands in bringing up their children. Our lives are mirrors, what we do, say or watch in the presence of our children matters, they learn fast and if wrong message is being passed, they will grab it also.”
In the same vein, the clergy stressed that parents should not toil with what their children will become, saying God who created them will give the direction.
