2019: APC summons Moshood Mustapha over alleged anti-party

The All Progressives Congress (APC), Alanamu ward has summoned Hon Moshood Mustapha, a former legislative aide to the Senate President, Dr Bukola Sarak over alleged anti-party activities, National Pilot can authoritatively report.
The summon by the party executives of the ward is the first official response to the issue which has dominated political discourse and trended heavily on the social media since it first hit the polity.
MM as Mustapha is fondly called by political admirers was the former House of Representatives member from Ilorin West/Asa constituency having served the state as commissioner in two ministries under Bukola Saraki as governor.
The development is coming on the backdrop of allegation that Moshood Mustapha is reportedly planning to contest the gubernatorial ticket under the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
But there were conflicting accounts over the issue last night, even as the former custom boss refused to speak on the matter.
Several calls and text message sent to him seeking his response on the issue last night were neither picked nor replied before this paper went to bed.
According to a top party source in the state, the ward chapter of the party has written Mustapha officially to come and explain his alleged fraternisation with the PDP for the gubernatorial ticket.
The source added that Mustapha has been given up to the first week of March, 2018, failure of which the party at the ward and state level will take the โ€œnecessary stepsโ€.
However, one of the ward executives of the party at Alanamu who spoke on the issue of strict anonymity because of its sensitivity told this reporter that MM actually requested to appear before the ward panel first week of March precisely on March, 8.
The source said the party wrote to Mustapha on Wednesday, February 14 over the issue and he informed them that he will be available on March 8.
โ€œThe ward executive of the party has written to MM on Wednesday, February 14, 2018 over his alleged anti-party. Part of the allegation contained in the letter were that he has been interacting with the opposition and holding several meetings with them even while still allegedly a member of the APC as he is yet to inform the ward he is leaving the party.
โ€œBut he got back to the party at the ward that he was outside the country and will be available first week of March to come and explain himself and we are waiting for that before the next line of actionโ€, the source noted.
Attempts to get the reaction of the APC chairman of Alanamu ward, Alhaji Jimoh Aliu AbdulRahman proved futile last night as he declined comment on the matter.
Similarly, the state chairman of the party, Hon Ishola Balogun-Fulani refused to comment on the issue.
โ€œI donโ€™t have any comment on that issueโ€, they both submitted when this medium sought their reaction.
The political direction of MM as 2019 draws nearer has come under intense public scrutiny after his alleged plans to jettison the Senate President apparently due to his gubernatorial ambition.
At the height of the controversy, some of his coordinators were said to have put him in a dilemma following claims that they are not prepared to quit the structure of Saraki for MMโ€™s gubernatorial ambition.
