Kwara Assembly commends Saraki over massive projects in state

The Kwara State House of Assembly on Tuesday took time to reflect on the massive contribution of Senate President and Chairman of National Assembly, Dr Bukola Saraki, to the development of the state even as he was lauded for his immense and timely intervention in various sectors to improve the wellbeing of the people of the state.

The resolution followed the consideration of a motion titled “Appraising the Senate President’s Intervention on Development of Infrastructure in Kwara State” sponsored by a member representing Patigi Constituency, Hon. Shuaib Abdulkadir.

He noted that for the first time the state had almost 40 Kwarans on the list of Federal Board of Parastatals as well as influenced and facilitated over 200 projects to the state.

The Speaker, Dr. Ali Ahmad, while reading the resolutions of the House, noted that it would require postgraduate studies to document the numerous achievements, impacts and future dimensions of the effort of the Senate President on the lives of the people of the State.

Dr. Ahmad expressed delight that the projects and interventions of the Senate President were handled by indigenous contractors, which according to him, had improved the socio economic wellbeing of the indigenous contractors.

The House, while urging contractors handling all the projects to execute according to specifications and deliver on schedule, enjoined the Senate President, to extend his influence especially in the provision of boreholes, classrooms, and other areas that require intervention, to further enhance the wellbeing of the entire people of the State.

The legislature equally mandated the Clerk of the House, to write letter of appreciation to the Senate President, on behalf of the people of Kwara State, for his intervention in infrastructural, human capital development, and poverty alleviation in the State.

Meanwhile, a bill for a law to amend the Governor and Deputy Governor payment of pension, passed through Second Reading at the floor of the House, after robust debate, by members on the general principle of the bill.

The Speaker, while directing the Clerk, Alhaji Ahmed Katsina Mohammed, to read the bill for the second time, called for an- all-inclusive public hearing on the bill, to ensure enactment of an enduring, practicable law.
