The new Acting Chief Medical Director of the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital (UITH), Prof. Olatunji Buhari is set to hold his first official meeting with management and board of the hospital, today.
An employee of UITH who pleaded anonymity informed this medium last night that the Acting CMD will be discussing issues relating to the welfare of the staff among others.
It would be recalled that Buhari who was formerly the Chairman Medical Advisory Committee (CMAC) of UITH took over the leadership of the facility in acting capacity after Prof. Abdulwaheed  Olajide Olatinwo bowed out last Friday, after two terms of eight years.
Speaking, the source said, “Our Acting CMD has concluded plans towards holding his first official meeting with the board and management of the hospital today (Monday) where he is expected to unveil the blue print of his administration.”
It will be noted that the succession battle for the apex position at UITH began about four months ago when the seat was publicly declared vacant.
Among about 10 applicants for the position, the current Acting CMD, Prof Buhari alongside Prof. I.A. Alabi and Prof. Abdullah Da Silva Yusuf of Behavioural Science Department made the final shortlist.
While Olatinwo’s tenure lasted, the UITH made huge progress in the area of successful operations and more blocks of buildings but he was consistently condemned for not being sensitive to the plight of workers.
Now that Buhari has stepped in, the entire UITH community is looking forward to rapid improvement in workers’ welfare, the source divulged.
