It was end of the road for a suspected armed robber who was killed by angry mob yesterday at Maraba area of Ilorin, Kwara State.
It was gathered that the deceased whose identity has remained unknown alongside his gang members snatched a motorcycle at Akerebiata within the metropolis.
According to eyewitness account, the suspects while getting away from the robbery scene shot sporadically into the air and a passerby was hit by bullet in the process.
This, was said to have angered residents and passersby who gave the fleeing suspects hot chase.
It was further learnt that the mob caught up with one of the alleged armed robbers and beat him to death before setting his remains on fire
When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer of the Kwara Command, SP Ajayi Okasanmi confirmed the incident.
He also condemned the act of jungle justice meter out on the suspect, saying that memvers of the public should desist from taking laws into their hands.
“No one is allowed to take law into his hands over any matter. The command in several occasions have warned members of the public to shun jungle justice as any one found guilty will be brought to book.”
Okasanmi further said that, investigation has began into the matter and effort ongoing to arrest fleeing suspects.
