The Kwara State Coordinator of the National Anti-Corruption Volunteer Corps of the Independent Corrupt Practices and other related Offences Commission (ICPC-NAVC), Mallam Mohammed Abdullahi has said that the group is fully ready to monitor the forthcoming general elections, scheduled to kickoff with the Presidential and National Assembly elections on February 16, 2019.
While inaugurating the Ilorin South and Patigi Local Government Area chapters of ICPC-NAVC both in Ilorin and Patigi, Mallam Abdullahi said that the mandate of the Corps is monitoring of national assignments, which include census, examinations and elections.
According to him, the Corps will monitor elections in all the 16 Local Government Areas of Kwara State and will send its reports to the ICPC.
Other mandates of the Corps are; engaging in advocacy and sensitisation of the public against corruption, reporting acts of corrupt practices to the ICPC and observing the level of integrity in the society.
At the inauguration of the Ilorin South chapter at Government Secondary School, Gaa-Akanbi, Abdullahi charged the executives and members to work as a team and be transparent in carrying out their duties.
The Coordinator of ICPC-NAVC in Ilorin South, Adebola Olorunfemi said the task looks simple but herculean. Other members of the executives are; Barr. Akindele Augustine (Secretary), Abdulkadri Abdulazeez, Qazeem Alimi and Joseph Emmanuel.
Also at the Cooperative Hall, Patigi Local Government Secretariat, Mallam Abdullahi charged them to work in line with the mandate of the Corps.
The executives of Patigi ICPC-NAVC are; Thomas Toswa (Coordinator), John Jiya Mazi (Secretary), Mary Mayaki (Assistant Secretary), Deborah Job (Treasurer) and Tsado Mamud (PRO).
