Senate summons Buhari over herdsmen killings

Lawmakers yesterday moved motion to summon President Muhammadu Buhari over the incessant herdsmen killings in the country.
The motion was moved during plenary on Wednesday and adopted by all members of the Senate.
The senate maintained that the president, who is the Chief Security Officer of the country, must appear before them,  to give reasons for the killings and to brief them on the security situation in the country.
In his reaction to the development, the Media Aide to President Buhari, Femi Adesina during a programme on Channels Television, Politics Today which was monitored in Ilorin by this medium, applauded the decision of the Senate over the issue.
He noted that the decision to summon his principal is in order following the democratic system of government the country practice.
He further expressed confidence that the president will respond to the call whenever the decision is communicated to him.
“I believe President will respond accordingly whenever the decision of the Senate is communicated to him. This is a democratic government and I’m sure President will will always protect that,” Adesina said.
He further stressed that Nigerians should endeavour to unravel the mystery behind those who are killing people in the different parts of the country if they are herdsmen or not.
