Kwara NANNM disassociates self from rally, warns members against illegal activities

 

The National Association of Nigeria Nurses and Midwives (NANNM) has disassociated itself from holding a mega rally in Ilorin, Kwara state capital on Wednesday.
The association also warned members from participating in the said mega rally.
This is contained a statement duly signed by Kwara state Chairman of NANNM, Aminu Shehu and made available to newsmen on Sunday.
The statement reads ” following an extensive review of issues surrounding the proposed anti quackery rally by ‘ Lead Nurses Crew on Air’ the State Administrative Council (SAC) of NANNM has resolved that this council is the only government recognized and registered body to organize programmes in nurses name in Kwara state.
According to the statement ‘ lead nurses crew on air and other similar name without due affiliation to NANNM are illegal, impostors and unrecognized by the council and the national headquarters.
“That the proposed mega rally on anti quackery should not take place on the 5th of February as communicated earlier by the council to the mentioned body.
“That this council disassociate herself from any rally in the name of nurses in Kwara state without consultation with NANNM and other stakeholders.
“That all units should disregards the planned rally by this unregistered and illegal organization in the state as NANNM kwara SAC is ready to defend the mandate and protect the interests of all nurses in each stratum of service in the state.
It further urges members of the association by this resolution to stay clear of the programme as the council will not be responsible should the rally be hijacked by hoodlums and bandits .
The statement while appealing on the security agencies to take note stressed that the menace of quackery among practitioners will properly addressed at the council level.
