Kwara Industry Ministry rakes in N3.3m in first quarter

The Kwara State Ministry of Industry and Solid Minerals said it has generated a total sum of N3.394,500 for the first quarter of 2018.

The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Alhaji Saad Ola Haliru stated this during an interview with Pilot Business recently.

 “The breakdown of revenue generated by the Ministry between January to March is as follows; in January we recorded N895,500;  N799,500 was generated in February and for March the sum N1, 700, 000 making a total of N3.394,500,” he divulged.

According to him, the Ministry is contributing its quota to the growth of industrial activities in the state by unifying quarry, mining, charcoal and other related associations

He said, “We have a cordial working relationship with the leaders of these associations.

“We want to ensure that all mining activities are conducted in accordance with guiding rules and regulations guiding in the state,” he added

The Permanent Secretary however decried the law, which empowers only the Federal Government to issue mining licence to investors.

He pointed out that the law has given room for investors to engage in illegal mining with claims that they have been licensed by the Federal Government.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner for Ministry of Industry and Solid Minerals, Mallam Ahmed Alhassan has stated his avowed commitment to resuscitate moribund industries in the state.

He said, “We’ll ensure that there is an increase in the revenue generation by the ministry and carry out other renovations to bring about economic growth of the state.
