Salute to Jagumolu Theo Bamigboye @ 70

By Raheem Adedoyin
It was fitting that I made the exclusive list of invitees to Chief Theophilus Bamgboye`s 70th birthday party in Kwara State on Wednesday, 3rd February, 2021.
The A-class birthday event for the retired former Military Administrator of Bauchi and Osun States and Jagunmolu of the Source started with a flurry of goodwill messages spearheaded by Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq who eulogised Col Bamigboye.
Guests at the birthday event included a royal delegation led by His Royal Majesty, Oba Abduraheem Adeoti, the Olomu of Omuaran.
Kabiyesi was accompanied by his three Ward Heads — Eesa Jide Adebayo, Head of Ihaye Ward; Chief Emmanuel Olusegun Oyedepo, the Asanlu Omu and Head of Ifaka Ward and Chief Olusola Olaniyan, Odofin Aran, Head of Aran Ward.
The celebrant’s friends and associates who honoured him with their presence at the event included retired Admiral Abolarin, Ambassador Mohammed Niyi Abioye (Nigeria Ambassador to Pakistan), retired Permanent Secretary Chief Peter Oyinloye, former Honourable Commissioner and estwhile Executive Chairman of Ilorin South Local Government, Col. Ishola (Rtd), PR guru Mr. Debo Adeleke (ESGEE)
The leadership and members of Rotary Club also made their presence felt as were media chiefs including the General Manager of the Herald newspapers, Mr Yomi Adeboye, the Publisher of Tabloid Newspaper, Alh. Tunde Bakare and Senior officials of the Nigeria Television Authority (NTA) in Kwara State.
It was tributes galore as guests eulogised Bamigboye for his simplicity, courage, communal and public service.
The Speakers included Oba Adeoti, Ambassador Abioye, Admiral Abolarin,Chief Oyinloye, Mr. Adeleke and Oloriewe Raheem Adedoyin.
The event offered me a golden opportunity to appreciate Jagunmolu for his mentorship spanning two decades.
As I recalled in my testimonial, Col. Bamigboye was a major contributor to my acclaimed success as Editor-in-chief/Chief Executive of the Herald Newspapers in the late 90s.
After I led a delegation of Kwara State Printing and Publishing Corporation (Publishers of The Herald NewsPapers) to MILAD Bamigboye’s office in Bauchi, the Newspaper became a staple for advertisements and commercial support from Bauchi State. The patronage continued when Col. Bamigboye was redeployed to Osun as MILAD.
Col. Bamigboye was also a star Guest at the Award Ceremony that The Herald organised in Ilorin in 1997 which was also attended by the then Kwara State Military Administrator, Col. PAM Ogar (Rtd), the Federal Minister of Works, late Gen. Abdulkareem Adisa and other high flyers in public and private Sectors.
My community, Ijomu Oro and Oro kingdom as a whole, still appreciate MILAD Bamigboye’s participation and financial contribution to the first Ijomu Oro Day in 1998. The MILAD was my special invitee as a Guest and he was most supportive that day.
As the celebrant and his beautiful and devoted wife, Rotarian Jumoke Bamigboye took to the dancing floors, friends and associates joined to display their dancing skill too.
Madam Bamigboye bested her hubby during dancing on Wednesday, but the aristocratic carriage of the Jagunmolu was all too evident.
Many Happy Returns, Jagunmolu!
