Saraki Water Intervention: Work begins on repair of 50 boreholes in Kwara

The second phase of Dr Bukola Saraki’s Water Intervention Scheme has commenced across Kwara Central Senatorial District of with a target to fix over 50 boreholes.

The Chairman, Committee on Boreholes Repair of the ABS Constituency Office, Hon. Akeem Amao disclosed this in Ilorin while speaking with newsmen at the weekend.

According to him, engineers had been moving to all the four local governments (Asa, Ilorin West, Ilorin South and Ilorin East) within the Senatorial District represented by the Senate President to restore all the malfunctioning boreholes within the stipulated time.

Hon. Amao also noted that Dr Saraki is committed to providing mobile water treatment plants in rural areas across the Senatorial District to boost provision of potable water.

He noted that his team has been facing some challenges on various sites, including disaffection caused by the opposition party in the state who have decided to use the gesture to score political points.

While commending his team and residents of the Kwara Central for their cooperation, Hon Amao assured that every community will have access to potable water.

The committee chairman disclosed that the dam and water works are being refurbished by the Senate President, noting that if completed, there will be no scarcity of water in the state.

He appreciated Saraki for the initiative which is aimed at improving standard of living of the people.

Other members of the committee are; Alhaji Lawal Sidiq, Alhaji Hassan Yusuf, Alhaji Ibrahim Eleran and Alhaji S. O AbdulMalik. According to them fixing of motorise boreholes has commenced with the evacuation even as they promised that no unserviceable borehole would be left unattended to.

Some of the community members who spoke to newsmen expressed their delight to Saraki and promised their unalloyed support to him.
