By Ahmed Ajikobi
Muslims have been urged to find a place in their hearts to always forgive those who offended them in the cause of their daily interactions in order to enjoy pleasure of Allah (SWT).
The visiting Imam Ajaokuta street Mosque, Adewole, Ilorin, Kwara State, Ustaz Sherif Lawal gave the charge in his Friday sermon (Khutbah) before the traditional two rakat prayer for the Jumaat service.
According to him, Muslims who are desirous of Allah’s forgiveness needed to do same whenever they offended, cautioning them against swift response to issues they feel agitated about.
Ustaz Lawal noted that although no creation is perfect, the ability to forgive is not an easy virtue but a divine favour from Allah which He bestows on his righteous servants.
He said “Allah advised Muslims not to take revenge on anyone who wronged us and tasked us to be good and close to those who we found wanting in human and public relations. No one can do it except those that have patience.
“If you have been betrayed by friends or family and you have patience resist the temptation to revenge, Allah will reward you and grant you forgiveness of all you sins.
“No one is perfect, everyone makes mistakes and no matter how great the sin may be, Muslims should control their temper with patient and have the mind of forgiveness if we also want Almighty Allah who has the power to forgive everybody’s sins to forgive us.
“So, do what you feel is good for yourself to other people as instructed by Allah and try to be very close to Him by observing five daily prayers and reading of Glorious Qur’an and following the instructions therein.
“If anyone wrong you, don’t revenge with wrong but exhibit good character towards such person and choose him as your best friend”, he added.
