The contest for the gubernatorial ticket of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State recorded a milestone in Ibadan yesterday as the Oluyole chapter of the party formally adopted Oluyole born journalist turned politician, Alhaji Kehinde Isiaka Olaosebikan as its candidate for the 2019 gubernatorial race.
The Member representing Oluyole Constituency in the State House of Assembly, Honourable Abiodun Muideen Wahab Ademolu moved the motion for the adoption at the weekly general meeting of the party held at Community Primary School, Olomi.
The historic motion was seconded by the chairman of Oluyole Local Government, Prince Ayodeji Abass Aleshinloye and was unanimously agreed by the entire members of the party in the local government.
Consequent upon this adoption, Alhaji Olaosebikan has become the first gubernatorial aspirant to be unanimously endorsed and adopted by the grassroots.
Speaking while moving the motion, Honourable Wahab Ademolu disclosed that his findings after wide consultations on Alhaji Olaosebikan showed clearly that the former local government chairman was affectionately loved by not just only the politicians, but by all the segments of the society including the youths, local government workers and traditional rulers.
While urging the people of the local government to rally round Olaosebikan, Honorable Wahab said that he was very optimistic that the adopted candidate would win the APC ticket and emerge victorious at the polls.
A long standing friend of the aspirant, Prince Abass Aleshinleye said the local government was fully behind his aspiration adding that he would rally his fellow chairmen to see the council produce the next governor of the state in the person of Alhaji Olaosebikan.
The leader of the party in the local government who is also the State Deputy Chairman, Honorable Lekan Adeyemo said that the adoption by the local government was the first step towards victory for him and Oluyole Local Government.
Honourable Adeyemo told the gathering that with Olaosebikan as the governor of the state, a better future is assured for all and sundry.
โHe is a good man, Godly, very competent, bold, caring, energetic and with profound understanding of governance and politics of Oyo State and nationallyโ, he noted.
In his response, Alhaji Olaosebikan thanked the leaders and members of the party in the local government for the uncommon show of love to him and pledged to do everything possible to see that he emerges as the next Governor of the state.
”This is grassroots, participatory democracy at its best. I am very glad that I emerged the candidate of our party through the grassroots. I made my intention known to the party in my ward and as a very responsible ward; the aspiration was brought to the local government.
