KWHA urges mgt of Kwara Poly to revert to last year’s tuition

The Kwara State House of Assembly has urged the management of the state polytechnic, Ilorin to immediately revert to the last academic session’s tuition fee regime for all categories of students of the institution.
This call was part of the Resolutions of the House, yesterday, after considering the report of the House Committee on Education and Human Capital Development, on the controversy surrounding tuition fee in the Institution.
It would be recalled that the Parliament through its Committee on Education, last week waded into the imbroglio, by inviting all Stakeholders, in order to have first hand information and proffer amicable solution to the controversy.
Reading the Resolutions of the legislature, the Speaker, Dr Ali Ahmad, said, “status quo ante”, be maintained on payment of tuition fee by all categories of students of the Polytechnic.
The Parliament equally urged the management of the Kwara State Polytechnic, Ilorin, to ensure that whoever had paid the new tuition fee, be refunded in the interest of equity, fair play and justice.
The legislature which frowned at misinformation by the polytechnic management, urged Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed to seriously warn the institution from misleading the public on issues, bordering on the wellbeing of students.
The House however praised the matured and peaceful conduct of the student leaders and other stakeholders, which he said had assisted the lawmakers in making critical legislative decisions in the crisis.
