Fuel Scarcity: NSCDC recovers 1,100 ltrs of fuel in Ilorin

In a bid to check hoarding of fuel and activities of black marketers, men of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corp (NSCDC), Kwara State Command on Tuesday seized about 1,100 litres of Petroleum Motor Spirit (PMS) in 36 jerry cans at Oloje axis of Ilorin, the state capital.

It was gathered that, the product was seized following a tip off to the command which made the Anti-Vandal squad of NSCDC to invade the area.

Speaking on the development in a telephone chat with our reporter, the NSCDC spokesperson in the state, Henry Bilesanmi said, “About 1,100ltrs of PMS in 36 jerry cans were seized from black marketers around Oloje axis of Ilorin by the Anti-Vandal squad. No arrest was however made as the perpetrators fled on sighting our men.”

He however reiterated the determination of the Command to wipe out black market spots in all parts of the state.

In a related development, the Anti-Vandal squad of NSCDC has arrested a notorious black marketer, Alhaja Rukayat Abdulqadir of Ita Elefun Area on Monday, for illegal sales of petrol.

It was gathered that, Abdulkadir was earlier arrested for same offence and made to sign an undertaken in December 2017 with about 1,800 ltrs of fuel, 60 jerry cans, generators and funnels recovered from her.
