…says “Please bless my child”

There was mild but emotional drama at the heroic reception for Senate President, Dr Bukola Saraki on Tuesday in Ilorin when a woman defiled the mammoth crowd that surrounded the former Kwara governor during his visit to the state after his Supreme Court victory.
The said woman handed over her baby to Saraki requesting him to pray for him and bless the child.
The Senate President was seen with the baby atop the roof of his vehicle and reportedly showered prayers on the baby to the delight and appreciation of his supporters who joined him on the trip from the Ilorin International Airport.
Although the exact place the incident took place and the identity of the woman could not be ascertained before this paper went to bed last night, the incident has however gone viral on social media platforms.
It was gathered that the woman who was part of the pool of people that massed around Saraki on his way to the palace to pay homage to the Emir of Ilorin, Dr Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, pleaded to Saraki to invoke prayers on her child to become as great as the Senate President himself.
“Please Dr Saraki, pray for my baby to be as great as you, help bless my child”, she reportedly pleaded.
The development was one of the emotional highpoints of the movement to the palace which lasted hours because of the surging crowd.
Saraki’s visit to the state was the maiden since the Supreme Court pronounced him innocent over false and anticipatory asset declaration brought against him by the Federal Government three years ago.
During the trial, Saraki made his first Hajj and several other Umrah (lesser hajj) trips to Saudi Arabia amidst several prayers organised for him by party chieftains and his loyalists in the state.
