A member of the Federal House of Representatives representing Asa/Ilorin West Federal Constituency, Hon Rasak Atunwa has commended the Senate President, Dr Bukola Saraki for the huge number of indigenes of Kwara State that were recently given federal board appointments.
Atunwa, who is the Chairman House Committee on Judiciary and the immediate past speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly, said the number of appointees from Kwara is historic since the creation of the state.
Recall that the Federal Government last week released first batch of over 1,000 board appointments and 209 board chairmen in a statement signed by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Boss Mustapha.
Kwara State with over 30 appointees got the largest slot among the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.
Speaking with National Pilot on the development, last night, Atunwa said, “In the history of Kwara, we have never had it so good but thanks to Saraki for the large number of people from the state considered for juicy federal board appointments.
“This is the first time any state would get such number of appointees in one release and more indigenes of the state are expected to make the second batch.
“For our beloved state to enjoy more dividends of democracy, I implore the people of Kwara to keep supporting Dr Bukola Saraki. He has overtime shown that the welfare of the people of Kwara is his priority.
“As long as our leader, Dr Saraki retains the seat of Senate President; I can assure our people that there will be more opportunities for us all especially the youth,” he posited.
Speaking further, the lawmaker urged Kwarans to shun politics of underdevelopment and division but rather rally round Saraki.
“Already, he is set to blaze the trail this year by opening 52 offices in Kwara Central to be manned by four persons.
“He has also embarked on critical interventions that cut across water, road, erosion control, empowerment and street lights among others in the state.
“This is not the time of politics but development as Kwara and Kwarans stand to gain enormously by supporting the Senate President,” he added.
Among the Kwarans that benefited the federal board appointments are; Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, Alhaji Kayode Yusuf Maja, Hon Ishola Balogun Fulani and Hon Lukman Owolewa were given federal board appointments, a fortnight ago courtesy of Saraki.
While Abdullahii was offered a role at the National Centre for Sugar Research, Balogun-Fulani, Maja and Owolewa were posted to Federal Medical Centre, College of Agriculture, Ibadan and National Geological Research in that order.
Also among the new appointees are; Alhaji Soliu Woru, Hon Ramota Adeshina Abaya, Hon Abubakar Suka Baba, Isiaka Mogaji, Hajia Sekinat Tayo Abubakar, Khaleel Bolaji, Hon Bode Ogunleye and Sen Mohammed Mohammed among others.
