2019: We’re fully on ground in Kwara – LP

The Kwara State chapter of the Labour Party (LP) yesterday rejected media report that the party is not on ground in the state and vitally unknown.
The acting State chairman of the party, Comrade AbdulMumini AbdulKareem Onagun while speaking at the premises of the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ) said the report that the party is not known in the state as reported by a national daily is not only false but runs contrary to its visible presence across the nooks and crannies of the state. .
According to him, the party actively participated in the 2013 local government election where it fielded six candidates.
He said LP remains the party to watch out for in the next year gubernatorial election adding that it remained the only international recognised party with branches in many countries across the world.
“We reject that report in its entirety because it does not represent the true situation of things in the state as it concerns Labour Party.
“After all, the party partook in the council election of 2013 where six candidates were fielded and won but the party was denied of the victory. The same thing happened in 18th Nov. 2017 LG elections and also during the 2015 general elections which should not be forgotten so soon.
“LP in Kwara state is the …. of about 45 registered political parties domicile in the state. We have a befitting state secretariat state. the party remains the one to watch out for in the state come 2019 general election and it remains the only international party in Nigeria, Britain, Brazil, Switzerland, among others have the presence of Labour Party”, Onagun added.
