The new Commissioner of Police, Kwara State Command, Fafowora Olaniyi has debunked the rumour that his recent posting to the state was politically motivated.
He stated this during a press briefing at the police headquarters, Ilorin on Tuesday, adding that police officers can be posted to any location at anytime.
“As Commissioner of Police, you may be posted to anywhere at any time. They can decide to change me and bring anybody at any time, that’s how police works,” Olaniyi said.
He however called for the support of journalists, adding that they must consistently provide accurate reports on activities of the Kwara State Command under his leadership.
“I will urge our pressmen to always verify information before publishing it. I want to work with you and support you. I will not deprive journalists of any kind of information,” he added.
Olaniyi urged politicians and their followers to conduct themselves in peacefully, stressing that police will not allow any act of violence.
He tasked members of the public to be supportive by providing credible information that will help the police to fight crime in the state.
“Youths should do away with any kind of criminal act that can lead them to jail as the Police Command will burst any crime activity in the state.”
