The National Drugs Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in Kwara State in collaboration with the Nigeria Police Force have formed synergy in the fight against drug abuse and other criminal activities in the state.
The state Commander of NDLEA, Barr. Ona Ogilegwu made the disclosure while receiving the new Kwara State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Fafowora Bolaji, in his office in Ilorin, recently.
The NDLEA boss said, ” drug abuse is responsible for most of the crimes that are being committed in our society today such as armed robbery, cultism, rape and rituals among others
“So, we are calling on you to partner with us in ensuring that the activities relating to drug abuse, addiction and trafficking are reduced to the minimum level.
“We have heard of relentless effort of your men and officers here in ensuring that people who engage in evil acts and violence are brought to book.
Ogilegwu then urged all stakeholders and the media to partner with the agency in reaching out to more members of the public in sensitising them on the dangers of drug abuse and the need to avoid illicit drug trafficking.
In his remarks, the Police Commissioner promised to work with the agency to eliminate drugs abuse and trafficking in the state.
He assured that the police will continue to partner with the NDLEA in its drive to reduce drug abuse and related crime and its negative effects on users through sensitisation campaign.
Bolaji stressed that the police force in the state has zero tolerance for crime; warning criminals to flee the state before the long arm of the law catches up with them.
