The Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ifelodun Local Government Area of Kwara State, Alhaji Mohammed Shillo Awobimpe has been suspended indefinitely.
Also suspended is the Vice Chairman of the Party in the Area, Mallam Baba Malik.
The two officers were suspended over allegations of financial mismanagement and anti-party activities leveled against them in a petition signed by four members of the Party.
The decision to suspend the officers was taken at a meeting that comprised the executives, APC Elders and Stakeholders from the area.
In a five points communiqué issued at the end of the meeting, the party resolved that the two affected officers should defend the allegation leveled against them before a probe panel/disciplinary Committee set up to look at the issue.
The party said it unanimously pledged total support and loyalty to the person and administration of Mallam Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq and his deputy, Mr Kayode Alabi.
It also appointed the Secretary of the Party, Olurotimi Ajisafe to act as the Chairman of the party.
Recall that the local chapter of the party had recently suspended the Ilorin South party chairman and some members across some council including former Commission for Environment, Barrister Anthony Towoju over alleged related offences.

…party chairman warns against arbitrary suspensions

The Kwara State chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bashiru Omolaja Bolarinwa has warned against arbitrary suspension of some party leaders by those he described as disgruntled members of the party.
The comment of Bolarinwa is coming on the heels of the leadership crisis rocking the Kwara State chapter of the APC over the Governor’s leadership style and alleged unilateral appointment choices.
While reacting to the suspension of the party chairman in Ifelodun, Mohammed Awobimpe and his vice, Baba Malik, respectively, Bolarinwa in a statement warned against the indiscriminate suspension of party members and unconstitutional act that could cause crisis within the party at the state level.
Awobimpe and Malik were accused of allegedly mismanaging funds belonging to the party and involvement in anti-party activities.
Bolarinwa expressed dismay over what he described as the wanton and reckless removal of party officers by the congregation of disgruntled, selfish and attention-seeking elements in the party.
The party chairman, who decried a situation where one would labour to build a house and later be found destroying the house, warned that the organs of the party would no longer condone recklessness and activities inimical to the growth and unity of APC through application of appropriate sanctions.
He wondered why the APC which was formed for the liberation of Kwarans, is now being deployed by some desperate politicians who are fixated with personal gains as a vehicle of torment for the same Kwarans.
He therefore, declared as null and void the suspension of all officers embarked upon without due diligence, as laid down by the party’s constitution.
