ACPN remain best alternative for Kwarans – Party Chair

…as presidential candidate, Oby Ezekwesili visits Kwara, this week

The Kwara State chairman of the Allied Congress Party of Nigeria (ACPN), Elder Kayode Kuti has described the party as the best alternative for Kwarans in next year general election.
Speaking with National Pilot at the state secretariat of the party popularly known as Okere in the state on Saturday, the chairman who noted that ACPN remains the only party after the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and All Progressives Congress (APC) that has produce candidates for the twenty four House of Assembly seats, six House of Representatives and three senatorial seats in the state, said the party has a good agenda for the electorate in the state.
Kuti who was the former chairman of All Political Parties in Kwara state and the state Coordinator of Don Etiebet for President in 1999, said the party is very much on ground and ready for the task ahead.
He said although late Dr. Olusola Saraki was a former member of the party in the state, the new structure is entirely independent adding that the presidential candidate of the party and former Minister of Education, Oby Esekwesili will be visiting the state this week in preparation for the 2019 election.
According to him, “Out of 91 registered political parties in Nigeria, only 32 were able to produce presidential candidates. In Kwara from about 50 political parties, ACPN was able to produce 18 House of Assembly, six House of Representatives and three senatorial candidates among the parties.
“Apart from PDP and APC, ACPN is the next political party in the state that has produced enough candidates for the 2019 election.
“ACPN is the alternative party for Kwara electorate. We are the first on the INEC list of parties in the state. Peoples are looking at us as if we have hidden agenda and without mincing words, we have hidden agenda because we are going to come out in a big way. There is no party with the kind of secretariat we have in the state and this should underscore our seriousness to become a very formidable party for the coming election”, he added.
On why the party did not participate in the recent bye-election for the vacant seat of Irepodun/Ekiti/Oke-Ero/Isin federal constituency seat, the party chairman said “We didn’t take part because we believe it will be waste of time because we are busy with the 2019 election. Not that we don’t have the resources”.
